What makes Wichita a great place to live?

Wichita is an incredibly friendly place to live. Citizens here are loyal, supportive and innovative. Our schools are great and our universities are tops, It is our quality of life that keeps people here!

What is the biggest challenge or opportunity for our community in 2016?

To truly understand the job and growth opportunities available in Wichita for the Service employee all the way to the top executives in our corporations. To keep our unemployment low, Keep our job growth positive , Investing in Growth and Technology as exemplified by Wichita State Universities’ Initiative. But perhaps the biggest challenge is getting the word out on Wichita’s values and image. We need to sell Wichita from the heart.

What lasting impression do you hope the community will have of Together 2016?

That The Eagle and the community are working together to make a difference in Wichita and bring awareness of how wonderful Wichita truly is. When you talk to people who move here they are always surprised at the quality of life in Wichita.

Why did you choose to get involved in Together 2016?

I chose to get involved in Wichita for I have lived here all my life and am thrilled to help bring a cohesiveness to the community that Wichita is a wonderful place to live, raise a family, and you can truly make a difference in the world right here in Wichita.

One of the principles of Together 2016 is to invite every citizen to participate. Who would you invite first?

Robin Needham

What would you tell a person who is considering moving to Wichita?

You will find Wichita friendly, innovative, and growing and the best place to raise a family. Housing values are some of the best in the country. Education is second to none and opportunity abounds for anyone seeking a quality way of life.

How has Wichita changed since you first moved here?

I grew up here and have experienced the ups and downs over the years. Ownership of our Aviation industries has gone to communities outside of Wichita but the engineering and manufacturing talent remains here. Even Airbus is growing in the Wichita area because of their realization of the pool of engineering and manufacturing talent that resides here. Agriculture has always been a mainstay of Kansas as well as the oil industry.

Who could be better served by our community?

We don’t dare forget the quality of teachers and schooling we have in Wichita. To underserve education would be a drastic mistake. So we need to support our Wichita schools, universities and the educators that make up the school systems.

What is Wichita’s best kept secret?

Quality of life.

Who is someone locally that has influenced you?

Colby Sandlian

How long have you lived in Wichita?

All my life

What is the first thing you would show a visitor to Wichita?

Our universities, our industries, our services, our people.
