What is something you love about this community?

I love the size and friendliness of Wichita. We are big enough to offer lots of cultural amenities, entertainment and lifestyle options, while not so large to have to deal with congestion, safety and other major city problems. Our people are friendly and care about our community. Of course I love Shocker Basketball, the Zoo, the Air Capital Classic and our abundance of quality golf courses.

What would you share with someone who is considering moving to Wichita?

Wichita is a great place to raise a family. The community has invested heavily into updating our educational facilities and provides quality public and private education options. We have a stable economic base with good job and career opportunities. Housing and the cost of living is very affordable in Wichita. Giving you the opportunity to spend more on your family or other priorities.

What would you like to say about Wichita in ten years?

We have a diverse and robust local economy, providing continued opportunity for planned growth. We have expanded our community’s appeal and ability to retain our young people and their talents. We will better recognize and promote our community’s value and appeal. The rest of the country is also recognizing and appreciating what we have to offer.

What transformational projects need to be complete by 2025?

Clearly, everyone would like to see our major road infrastructure completed allowing the capability to handle our continued growth. We need to continue to add and upgrade our venues and attractions. The Lawrence -Dumont facilities need a major upgrade along with a franchise team.

How long have you lived in Wichita?

I have lived in Wichita since 1973 when I came to attend WSU.

What is the first thing you would show a visitor to Wichita?

A Shocker Basketball or Baseball Game or the Zoo depending on the season.
